Stuff written by his fanboys, stuff written by his critics, and stuff written by people in the middle. So yes Oyama was for real but we have a tendency to make the fish bigger with every telling. yes multiple punches to its skull over a three day span (if my memory is correct) i would challenge anyone to do that!!! however the tale is a little over blown, the tale i heard was that he did kill a bull with punches. Oyama was also known to kill bulls with a punch to the head.

in itself it doesnt look impressive, especially to those unfamilar with cattle and bulls. Oyama was wrestling the bull to the ground. Hollywood types have a way of screwing everything up. It is clear the Youtube narrator was critical of the hollywood mash up, this should be separated from what Oyama was actually doing. new flash a horn is not really solid bone there is a bone center but the actual horn is a keratin covering. The YouTube Narrator says "if Oyama could produce the g forces to smash though solid bone". however it looks to me that Oyama may not have been able to do this stunt on this particular day or perhaps the footage was not sufficent quality for the video. he was known to "karate chop" off a bull horn and i think the film editor added the horn being thrown on the ground to show this. without viewing the original video i feel the edited version of the footage added the horn after the fact and was not part of Oyamas performance. So the Youtube narrator seemed to be focused on the Bull horn. I do not know the source of the video but i would imagine its editing was someone other than Oyama himself. the mash up editing of the video and the implied narrative.not so much. Last edited by hectokan 25th July 2003 at 13:43.Mas Oyama was real. Perfect example is the UFC,in the beginning it definitely was style v.s style.Practicioners were actualy training with their own style methods of combat in order to achieve success.Today, they all train jiujitsu,Muaythai, wrestling so it would be unfair to proclaim the victory to any particular art of fighting, unless it is an emotional sentiment out of respect for their original style. This seems to be the case with K1 in Japan today. The kyokushin splintered groups that enter these competitions under the karate umbrella flag use methods of training that are primarily kickboxing methods of preparation. If and when a certain karate practicioner does get a win, karates name is automatically hoisted as the victor more so from a emotional point of view than from actualy training in what the world recognizes as true karate methods of training.
THE KYOKUSHIN WAY MAS OYAMA FULL
Regardless of the fact that they are karatemen, should karate methods of training get full credit for victory? When it is obvious that the preparation is strictly a kickboxing tailored routine? He goes into details on the training format that all three kyokushin fighters went thru for months prior to the bouts in thailand. They actualy prepared for the bouts with seasoned practicioners of muaythai and adopted some of their methods of preparation. I enjoyed that article.Going back to Nakamuras autobiography in the section labeled, "My trip to Thailand"Nakamura mentions those initial bouts being postoned various times. (site They end the thread by seeing that kyokushin is not the art it was and is surely losing its place to Kickboxing & Muaythai in the world arena of striking arts that is K1. If anyone is interested I’ve found an thread on another site witch gives some more info on this topic. I don’t believe in an ultimate MA bud if these fights really happened it would be nice to see them!! These fights should have given the answer to the question: which is the ultimate striking art on Earth - Kyokushin Karate or Thai boxing? I was just wondering if this is one of those made up stories to promote kyokushin and Mas Oyama, or did this really happen?.Īnd there also was a fight between Mongkut Kalop a apprentice of Reiba, whom they called the "Dark Lord of Muaythai" and Soeno a very strong kyokushin practisionar'. It was said that he brought Black Cobra down with an elbow strike, followed by an "aerial triple kick" but he admitted it was a very close fight. He I was just wondering if any of you have ever heard of the legendary fight of how Kyokushin Karate Founder Mas Oyama challenged and defeated the invincible Muaythai fighter "Black Cobra" in 1954 at Lumpinee Stadium.
